The Women's National Commission

Represents women and women's organisations in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to ensure their views are taken into account by the government and are heard in public debate.

Putting equality at the heart of government

The Government Equalities Office (GEO) is a government department, whose mission is to put equality at the heart of government. The GEO is responsible for the Government's overall strategy on equality as well as women’s issues across Government. The Department sponsors the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) and Women’s National Commission (WNC). The GEO reports to the Ministers for Women and Equality, Harriet Harman, Maria Eagle and Vera Baird.

The Equality Bill

The GEO is responsible for the introduction of the Government's Equality Bill which will be brought forward in Parliament within the next year. The Bill simplifies and modernises all current discrimination law under one single Equality Bill. Consultation responses
